Jerry Barnaby
Founding Executive Director: 1999-2005
In 1997, our founder, Jerry Barnaby, received a divine vision through Isaiah 58:6-12 to establish an inner-city youth outreach. This vision led to the opening of K.I.D.S. Inc. Indy in February 1999. From the outset, we committed ourselves to making a positive impact in the lives of students, their families, neighborhood schools, and the broader community. Our programs served K-12 students through in-house activities, after-school initiatives, one-on-one mentoring, and tutoring in schools. At the heart of our mission is the desire to share the Gospel and the love of Jesus Christ through Bible studies and weekly gatherings.
In late 1997, Horizon Christian Fellowship Central was gifted a building at a public auction—formerly IPS School 18—in Indianapolis, which eventually became the home for K.I.D.S. Inc. Within the walls, we offered a variety of activities including basketball, skateboarding, ping pong, arts and crafts, as well as opportunities for friends to gather. Volunteers generously provided food on Friday evenings for feeding students dinner each week, during which we also dedicated half an hour to a Gospel presentation, resulting in many students coming to Christ.
Jerry had the privilege of serving at K.I.D.S. Inc. until the Holy Spirit made it clear that his time there was coming to an end. This was not a negative decision; rather, it was a moment for new leadership. In 2005, Jerry entrusted the charity to Paul Valezquez, whose capable hands ensured its continued growth and outreach. Paul later passed the torch to Jake Medlong in 2012, and in 2021, Jake handed the charity over to Rich Day, who currently serves as the Executive Director of K.I.D.S. Inc. Indy.

In 1996 Rich found his new church home at Horizon of San Diego with Mike MacIntosh shortly after becoming a Christian in 1995.
Immediately after graduating from the Horizon School of Evangelism in 1997, he found himself on staff at Horizon San Diego finishing the 2004 year as an intern pastor. After spending one year at the Horizon Christian Academy Elementary School as the sixth grade Bible Teacher, he shortly then moved to Horizon Indianapolis in August of 2005 to serve as an associate pastor and the Director of Calvary Chapel Bible College Indianapolis.
In April 2012 he lead the planting of a church in Westfield, Indiana with the support of Bill Goodrich, Pastor of Horizon Indianapolis. He pastored Westfield Horizon Church for seven years. In 2020 he began serving alongside with Dave Kosobucki at Horizon Central Church at K.I.D.S. Inc as the administrative assistant to Jake Medlong. About a year and a half later Jake announced his departure from K.I.D.S. Inc. and the Board of Directors name Rich as the Executive Directory shortly after.
