With Or Without Fruit

As Christians, sometimes God calls us to be part of revivals. Other times God calls us to just keep showing up – even when we can’t see results. He calls us to faithfully teach and live truth. Our faithfulness must not be dependent on fruit, but rather based on God’s worthiness.

He doesn’t promise quick results, but He does promise to be with us every step of the way: “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:19-20, ESV)

Girls' Night

For the past three years, a few of our volunteers have been following God's call to faithfulness through a weekly Girls' Night program. Every Tuesday night, 7-12  middle and high school girls attend for dinner, an activity, and prayer and/or an informal Bible study. Girls' Night provides the space to invest in these girls more intentionally outside of the lively Teen Night environment, and develop a healthy, tight-knit group dynamic. The relationships built within Girls' Night have strengthened tremendously over the few years. The girls themselves have even taken ownership of the program, preparing the meal or planning the craft for the week. However, spiritual growth has still been minimal, if present at all . . .

. . . Until several weeks ago. K.I.D.S. Inc. shares a building with Horizon Christian Fellowship Central, and we make a point to invite students to attend Sunday service each week. Slowly, these girls started coming to church. First one, then three, then six. For the past month and a half, at least one Girls' Night student has been at church each week. These students are now exposed to God’s Word and His followers at least three times a week: at Teen Night, Girls' Night, and church. This is the most significant spiritual result we’ve witnessed from the program thus far. God is moving, and we have front row seats.

Samantha, a middle school student, led the girls in making floral crowns.

Please Pray

This progress has been deeply encouraging. Please pray that God continues to draw these students to Himself, that they would yearn for Him, that they would seek and be satisfied in Him. Please pray that we would have faithful and submissive hearts - with or without visible fruit - and that we would allow God to use us in these students’ lives however He sees fit.
